Loving Arms Childbirth Services

Anna Mahony

Hi! I’m Anna (she/her): mom of two fun humans and a seventh generation Northern Californian. I love nachos, decaf coffee, and have a habit of reading multiple books at the same time. I grew up in a large family where babies and birth were a regular part of life, and attending my first birth as a doula felt like coming home. It’s with deep gratitude that I have been supporting birthing parents around the Bay Area since 2009.

I received my birth doula certification through CAPPA, and did my Postpartum Doula and Childbirth Educator Facilitator training with Cornerstone. I’ve taken extended education courses with Birthways, the Bay Area Doula Project, HAND of the Bay Area, Sonia Reiter, Rachel Cargle, and East Bay Lactation Associates. I take seriously the responsibility to show up for and protect birthing folx affected by systemic inequity. We all deserve to be surrounded by trusted, kind, knowledgeable support while our families (and our selves!) grow and change. Being in positive community with others makes the hard parts of parenting more satisfying and joyful.

Most days you’ll find me hanging out with my kids and partner: reading, hiking, biking, digging in the garden, reminding them to pick up after themselves, the usual. I’m passionate about positive communication, empowering birth experiences, minimizing my carbon footprint, racial equity, social justice, supportive parenting, high quality free public education for all, and violence prevention. I believe in the transformative power of community, and in showing up for others.
