Pamela Star (who goes by “Star”) became interested in childbirth following the birth of her first son. In talking to fellow mamas about their births, Star was soon aware of the need for women and their partners to have support toward more positive experiences in bringing their babies into the world. She became a doula in 2005, and has since attended almost 300 births. She helped to found the Doulas of the East Bay professional doula group in 2010, and continues to be the monthly meeting and speaker coordinator. In line with her goal of improving birth experiences, she’s wanted to be a childbirth educator for many years and is very excited to have begun this year with In Loving Arms.
In all of her work with expecting families, her greatest hope is to understand and connect with each individual, and help them find their own best path to meeting their baby.
Star was born in San Francisco and raised in the Bay Area. She attended SF State and has a BA in English-Creative Writing. She now lives in Vallejo with her partner, two sons, and their mutt, Leo. In her free time, she loves spending time with family and playing the guitar with friends.
