Rachel Alkire has been practicing healing arts in the bay area for over 10 years. After graduating from Vassar College with a BA in developmental psychology, she moved to Berkeley, California and began studying at the Acupressure Institute. That is where she first experienced and then fell in love with Traditional Chinese Medicine. Upon completing their 1,000 hour Asian Bodywork Therapy training, she began her practice as a massage therapist and birth doula. As she supported women through their pregnancies and births, she was repeatedly amazed at the results her clients received from acupuncture and decided to enroll in acupuncture school at AIMC in Berkeley. Around the same time she became pregnant with her first son and was able to experience the power of Traditional Chinese Medicine for herself in a whole new capacity. She found acupuncture was invaluable at helping her have a healthy pregnancy, a smooth birth, and a fast postpartum recovery. Now a mama of two and a licensed acupuncturist she is passionate about working with women’s health issues such as fertility, pregnancy, postpartum recovery, and pediatrics. In addition to her acupuncture practice, she regularly teaches infant massage classes and runs a donation-based pediatric clinic to help keep your kids growing healthy and strong.
