Loving Arms Childbirth Services

Sydney Jones

“I had always known that I wanted to work in childbirth in some form, but it was not until I came across midwifery that I knew the exact path that I wanted to take. I love caring for, educating, and supporting people in pregnancy, labor, birth, and postpartum in all settings.

In 2017 I started my birthwork journey attending my first birth as a doula and my first childbirth education training, and subsequently starting school at Birthwise Midwifery School in Bridgton Maine. Upon starting the program, I realized how perfect of a match midwifery was for me. I completed the didactic portion of my program along with several clinical rotations in Maine before relocating to the Bay Area in 2019 to complete my clinical requirements at Pacifica Family Maternity Center. I spent a full 14 months in a clinical placement with Pacifica. In June of 2020 I graduated from Birthwise, became board certified and licensed, and in August of 2020, I joined the Pacifica team as a staff midwife.

In addition to working at Pacifica, I also teach remotely for Birthwise Midwifery School and am a full time student at Bastyr University studying to get my Master of Arts in Maternal Child Health Systems. I am also currently enrolled in a lactation education program through UC San Diego with the goal of becoming a Certified Lactation Counselor in September of 2021 and an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant in September of 2022. In addition to working with families one on one in the clinic and as a childbirth educator, I hope to someday work in research and policy to reduce adverse maternal health outcomes for Black birthing people.

It is such an honor to be welcomed into the spaces of families during what I feel is a very intimate time.”
